This new gas station isn’t open yet. Let’s hope the prices are wrong.

They stupidly only built it to up to 9.99. What happens WHEN I goes $10 and above?

    2. This is the “we need to test the sign, so use stupid high amounts so people don’t think we’re open” price.

    3. This is a default pricing display/price for a lot of price sign commodities. Commodities are how the sign differentiates between the different fuel grades, and often they’re either 9.xx or 9.99, 8.88, 7.77 etc. Source: I’m fuel certified and work with Point of Sale systems for a convenience store chain.

Despite the obvious high prices, when we’re still in the fuel testing phase, we’ve had customers run over caution tape, run over cones, move barriers, etc just topull in and fill up their tank at 9.99 a gallon, and then get pissed at us for letting them fuel up for $300 or so. 🙄

    4. These would be 1973 Nixon gets the US embargoed by Arab countries by arming Israel against the recommendation of the military and Congress level numbers.

Whats with the strange artifacting of the words, especially the words “Special,” and “Ethanol”?

Probably so. Sometime ago a new Circle K near me was readying for opening and posted outlandish gas prices for a month — probably to deter people from attempting to stop until they were actually open. Once they opened, the price was a little lower than market to encourage people to stop in.

Just had a gas station near my place open, when it was under construction the prices were $7.77, after it opened the prices drop to around $4.15. It’s definitely not the actual price.

    8. Whenever a Wawa opened up in my area, their grand opening price $1.99. Hopefully they stick to that tradition.

Diesel is always more expensive than unleaded so I’m guessing the prices aren’t correct. Yet ..

    10. You’d think Wawa would be forward thinking enough to include a 10’s digit on the signs at their new stations.

My parents thought it would be fun to visit Friends in Nova Scotia the summer when I was 11, Dad had ended up driving all night and we spent the day and a bit in Wawa

    12. I failed to get a picture just like this two weeks ago. Gas station under construction, wild prices. Good catch

    13. Seems stupid to build a new gas station without room for $10.00+ prices in these times.

    14. I’m in the Wilmington area and there’s a Wawa being built right now with two Sheetz nearby and I’m thinking this is gas station heaven.

    15. I think these are “we aren’t open” prices. But idk why illuminate the sign if they are closed?

    16. lol…. oh man, for all the GenZ that missed the – OMG we have to go to 3 digits for gas will now be the – OMG 4!!!.

FYI – this is about the same as the Y2K bug – in physical form.
