I take 4 little pills (two tabs levothroxine, two liothyronine) every day for the same thing. Is this a combo of those?

    2. I love Reddit correcting OP on the specifics.

Congrats OP!! That’s so cool that you can take a pill and be healthy and functional without a working thyroid!

    3. I don’t know if that is 112 or 200. Mine is 137 and barrel shaped. Started with 150.

Yep, I had my thyroid removed last year (Thyroid cancer). Been taking Levothyroxine since. One pill a day, and I feel completely normal.

omg i take levothyroxine too!! it’s wild how one tiny pill can do the job of a whole organ, science is pretty amazing.

Anyone else suddenly remembering that scene from Star Trek IV, The Voyage Home?

Isn’t it wild how that tiny thing can change your life? I’ve been on it for a couple years now. Dropped 75 lbs once I figured out my thyroid was trash.

    8. I had half my thyroid removed a few years ago (cancer). Got a cool scar across my throat. Luckily the remaining half thyroid picked up the slack so I don’t need to take hormone supplements.

If anyone has a non-functioning or removed thyroid, look into thyroid armour. Levothyroxine / synthesis only provide T1, and if you don’t have a functioning thyroid you’re going to feel off at some point. Thyroid armor provides T1 and T2, and it made a world of difference for me.

Source: born without a thyroid, been balancing it for as long as I can remember.

    10. Oooh yours is purple? Mine is just a boring white oval.

Technically my thyroid still has some function, so it’s just supplementing it. But it was kind of wild when I was diagnosed with hashimotos that they were like “yeah your immune system will continue attacking your thyroid and there’s not much we can do about that, but it’s fine because even if it’s completely destroyed, we will just adjust your Levo dose”

    11. I had my thyroid ablated (destroyed with radioactove iodine) because of Graves’ disease. I’ve also been taking a thyroid health supplement from Amazon for years, and my levels have stayed on track. Just sharing in case it’s helpful to anyone else.

    12. I wish you could have half of my thyroid, this thing has been going bonkers. Between us we could have normal TSH and T4 levels and not feel like shit all the time

Edit – just read your replies. Graves’ disease gang gang

    13. I also take thyroid hormones. I have to take synthroid though because the natural levothyroxone completely fucked with my mood and made my chest feel tight like I couldn’t breathe at all. My insurance doesn’t like that though and they ask me point blank every year if I actually think I need it instead of the cheaper option. Yes, bitch I do, otherwise I’ll have a heart attack.

I’m currently taking pills for thyroid gland. I specifically have hyperthyroidism. I used to shake like crazy. Couldn’t write without shaking the pen among many other scenarios…

My thyroid is a damn freeloader too. I’m glad it’s as simple as 1 tiny pill a day, because the side effects if you didn’t have it are.. all of them. Somehow everything goes wrong without a working thyroid.

    16. My cat has a thyroid problem and we give her a lil ear goop medicine and it’s been working super well!! You’re like my cat! Yay!
