Nobody’s problems were ever caused by poor people having food to eat

They’re deadass using our money to bomb kids in other countries.. I’m more upset about that than a less fortunate family having some cookies

    2. Downtown_Tale_5183 on

I remember having EBT & getting shit talked by a lady in line bc I had bought a cake, chocolate chip cookies, & a some candy. “You know if people bought actual groceries, I wouldn’t care about a snack or two with foodstamps”. Ma’am I lost my job, had $5 to my name & had to pull something together for my son’s birthday 🤣🤣🤣 I’m so glad that me trying to make my child happy made you feel that way over foodstamps.

There should be limitations but this is it. This is thinking poor people don’t deserve anything nice.

    4. These bums are worried about EBT from a poor family while the rich are making billions off of them. Make it make sense. 😭

    5. LolaFentyNil on

I hope that level of misery never finds me and mine. Also NINE AMERICAN DOLLARS for cookies????

    6. Nobody hates a person with just one dollar to their name more than the person with just two dollars to their name.

Feeding the poor us the least reprehensible thing my tax money can do. Let a kid have a cookie.

The issue here is that they’re blaming people who need the system to survive because the system is being abused by those who use it to get rich.

I can guarantee you that those cookies have been marked up by the grocery store because they are EBT eligible. Which means the only one “winning” is the millionaire owner of the grocery chain.

    9. Don’t engage with bad faith douchenozzles who purposely pointed out things you’ve never noticed before to rage you into conversation.

No one ever walked into a grocery store and wondered why low income families deserve cookies on SNAP benefits or not. You’re too busy trying to figure out why the fuck cereal is 7 dollars now.

    10. I mean this argument can be right and they can still be wrong… We shouldn’t be using our taxpayer money to bomb children, we also shouldn’t be giving people money to buy diabetes inducing”food.” Because yes it is actually better to go hungry than to to feed people absolute garbage that gives them diabetes and chronic illness.

I think potatoes and chicken and fish and vegetables and fruit and other healthy whole foods should be made affordable for poor people.

Nor a poor person having a smartphone. You know, that computer-telephone-alarm-clock-calendar-camera-television-movie-theater hybrid machine you can carry in your pocket

I loathe that so many people believe the idea that being poor means you’re not allowed to have any comforts or things you enjoy/that make life worth living because if you do then you weren’t really struggling at all. Dictating what the poor can have while all our tax dollars we all pay are going to a fake nation terrorizing the middle east.

I have this same problem about people getting all offended when a homeless person doesn’t want something they offer them. If you buy a homeless person a coffee without asking and their response is “I don’t drink coffee” or “I don’t take food from strangers” you can’t get angry about that. Being less fortunate doesn’t mean they aren’t still a human being with likes/preferences.

We use our military for entertainment and that’s not an issue, but we wanna police how regular people eat.😒

    15. god forbid a kid has a cookie. or a parent. or ANyONE. these villains would dead ass snatch a cookie from a baby bc “their taxes paid for it”. absolutely disgusting.

    16. We “can’t afford” universal healthcare in the states because the government would rather give that money to Israel to bomb children’s hospitals *and* fund their own universal healthcare

But mfers heated cause a poor (and let’s be honest, Black) kid might get a cookie

    17. freemanposse on

You are never going to get me mad about my money being used to buy some poor American kid cookies –  especially not when it costs a tiny fraction of what you’re apparently willing to spend to blow up a bunch of Iranian kids.

Having that take while paying for Twitter makes you know you’re arguing with someone that probably has a 3rd grade reading level

Such a weird place where we crap on the folks closest to us (poor) while we celebrate those farthest away from us (rich).

    20. Magic_Man_Boobs on

What’s insane to me about opinions like this is that people on food stamps get the same amount of money regardless of what they spend it on. If someone buys nothing but cookies with EBT they don’t get more money because they ran out. So as far as “being a taxpayer” goes the amount of money going from their taxes into the program isn’t any different. A good general rule of thumb is if it doesn’t effect you, shut the fuck up.

    21. TesticleMeElmo on

Typically “EBT eligible” just means that it’s not hot prepared food. People getting mad and revealing themselves as hateful and ignorant about shit they don’t even understand

I wish that everyone who criticized people on food assistance was suddenly cursed to live on it for just one week.

The medical sub uncovered the lost pages of mein kampf when the cut to sweets was announced.
My local food bank I visit every few weeks and it gives out pies, cakes, cookies, even Halloween candy because it’s nice to have little things that remind you that you are human and deserve some comfort.

    24. I guarantee these people would be shocked when the government cuts snap to 0 and they still aren’t rich

    25. Low-Sand-5227 on

Anybody complaining about that needs to go start a community garden to provide the things they’d like to see in their community.

    26. There is no amount of my money that would go to feeding poor people that i would be upset about. Poor people deserve hot food, junk food, and whatever the hell else.

    27. oldveteranknees on

When I see people say shit like this, it makes me think that it’s easier to just say what they really want to say: I hate black people. They’ll do everything except say that.
