    1. Bulgarian girl Vaska Zoycheva from Prilep, famous for being smacked by Serbian king Alexander I KaraÄ‘orÄ‘ević. During the Serbian occupation of Vardar Macedonia during the First Balkan War, the king met her and asked her: “What are you?”. When she said: “Bulgarian”, the ling smacked her across the face. Serbian authorities then tried to bribe her father to rescind the family’s statements.
