Now before we all get judgmental, have we considered that Atawallpa’s opinion may be biased? /s

“Atawallpa… We’ll take your gold anyway when you’re dead- but unless the men I work with wish to lose their heads for letting you live- as well as lose all territory we gain here from your army’s defeat? You must die. You’re simply too hated- as is your empire. Even if we wanted to allow you your life- the natives who you oppressed and slaughtered like animals would never let us save your life… So it shall be- that you die.” – A random spanish soldier guarding Atawallpa’s cell when the Captured emperor asked why the spanish refused his offer of ransom- for his life.
(But yeah- the spanish would never have gotten away with letting him live- LOL.)

The Spanish monarch was also infuriated at Atawallpa’s death, but not because of some humanitarian reason. He did not like the precedent of an army of mostly peasants killing monarchs.
