I mean, India and the SEA countries are pretty valuable if you can setup a trade empire. For awhile they did as well just you know, couldn’t keep up with the Brits and Dutch.

The importance of this treaty is greatly overestimated, just a surface level glance at it should tell you that in the long run not even the signatories cared about it.
