My mouse works perfectly with only 1 battery

I used to have a mouse like this; I’m pretty sure the manual mentioned it as a feature to be able to customize the weight.

Yeah, Logitech had this for a while now. You used the second battery to go longer between swapping and for weight management. I think now most of their mobile mice just use a single battery, if they’re not rechargeable.

    3. If you notice they are oriented the same which means they are in parallel which means you can use two batteries to double the capacity thus usage time.

If you keep using it with one battery don’t suddenly install a fresh one while the old one is still there, you’ll have a high current wanting to go toward the most discharged one and potentially cause issues

    4. That’s because of parallel battery connection, I have the same on Logitech g602.

    5. Actual answer:
The batteries are wired in parallel meaning they combine their capacities. So it runs off of one battery but it only lasts half as long.

It will work just fine, but you’ll have to replace the battery twice as often.

Love to see some graceful degradation in a world of planned obsolescence ☺️

Yeah I’ve been meaning to talk to you about your sluggish mouse movements.

Yes, but it will only work for half as long.

(Batteries in parallel keep the same voltage, but double the energy capacity.)

The batteries face the same way which means two batteries just increase battery life.

    11. The best mouse ever made, the old wireless Apple Mighty Mouse, used to have this feature too.

    12. I wish they would make mice with 2 slots where only one battery gets used at a time. That way once one dies it can indicate that it’s dead, but the second battery would allow the mouse to still be usable before you replace the first.

    13. Yes because it takes two cells in parallel due to power requirements. It will work for half as long on one.

    14. Most devices that run off 1.5v alkaline batteries use them in series, where you combine voltages with the same capacity. These are the type where you install batteries in alternating orientations.

Your mouse runs off them in parallel, where you keep the same voltage but double the capacity. So yes, this should work just fine, but the single battery will have about half the lifespan.

      Source: I work with batteries.

    15. My Microsoft Mouse does this as well, also works with tinfoil and a AAA size battery in a pinch.

I had a Microsoft wireless mouse about 15 years ago, I remember discovering the same thing and getting very excited about it for some reason.

Anyway, you’ll see that the batteries are connected in a parallel circuit and not in series. I.e. the mouse runs on 1.5v and not 3v. It can run on 1 battery however it would last half as long.

    17. Its probably made to only run on like 1.5 volts so one battery is enough but it hss 2 batteries ao ir can last much longer if you want

    18. The batteries run in a parallel circuit. So the village stays at 1,5V. So it doesn’t matter if you run out with 1 or 2 batteries.
