Not sure what’s facepalm about this… this is enlistment age not draft age

Ground works for a really expanded draft???

Air force, Navy, Coast Guard, and space force allowed up to age 41 prior to this, it really just brings the Army upto to the same standard as the rest of the armed forces aside from the Marines which limits you to 28.
Though those outside those age limits could still get a waiver if they can still meet other eligibility requirements.
With Trump as the Commander and Chief, I guess voluntary enlistments are down.
A pending ground war in Iran isn’t helping either.

These days, I’m extremely glad I’m a three time convicted felon and can’t be drafted.

They’re trying to fill up the ranks and also increasing training requirements for reserve/guard officers. Makes one wonder if something big isn’t being planned.

They changed the cutoff age from 35 to 42 to enlist for both new recruits and returning service members. They also got rid of a worthless “waiver” requirement for those who had a single conviction for possession of marijuana or drug paraphernalia. Those are all the ones you highlighted and are good things for people volunteering to join or returning to the military.
Do you think there’s going to be a draft or something? This will be a great thing for people who want to join the military. There won’t need to be a draft and to be honest, most of the kids in America today are pretty soft and not as mature as generations past at that age. There are however, some very mature 18 year old men and enough of them are volunteering to join the military that they won’t need a draft. It would be widely unpopular with most Americans in an already divided nation.

Generally for a critical skill (doctors, surgeons, engineers, nukes etc) they could waive age historically. But to enlist at 42 as a Pvt ☠️

All those self-proclaimed “Trump loving alpha males” should enlist first.

I’ll just be clutching my DD214 and my 100% total and permanent va rating. Have fun taking orders from Israel, boys.
They needed to deepen the pool of prospective enlistees.

Well from what I had read previously certain medical conditions would make you exempt from active duty. I think I have read that stuff like depression and bipolar and anxiety issues can get you out but I wouldn’t be surprised if they get rid of that too

I feel like we should all learn about [fragging](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fragging)
Things that get you 4-F at MEPS.
Hayfever
History of depression treated by a doctor
Not passing weight for height
Anxiety treated by a doctor
Marijuana use
Things that can also keep you out.
Debt
Weapon related misdemeanors
