Not to bash progressive dems. Most of the time they do fight back. Mostly establishment dems are the ones that water down reform bills.

I know republicans have tanked the economy, eroded our democracy, and gotten us into another quagmire in the middle east…But do you know what the *real* problem is? DEMOCRATS!

The real problem is *us*. This is a democracy. We voted in all these idiots. If you’re blaming *them* like you had nothing to do with it, I’ve got nothing to say.

People think a title is all you need for power.

When was the last time Democrats controlled 90% of the news media?

Dems when they win the executive but the electorate still voted in enough republican power to hamstring them VS republicans after they win the executive and voters hand them every arm of government on a silver platter

Democrats just don’t have the balls to do what it takes to make real, meaningful change. They have to desperately cling to their moral high ground. Harris could have easily exposed Trump and Musk’s blatant cheating, but rather than be compared to Trump for all the times he said thr Democrats cheated, she just left, content because “at least I’m a graceful loser”.

      > Tax cuts and judge confirmations: need 51 Senate votes

      > Almost everything else: need 60 Senate votes

Last time Dems had 60 Senate votes was in 2009, for like 185 days total. We got the biggest health care expansion in half a century.

You want Dems to do big things, you need to win Senate elections in states like North Carolina, Florida, Iowa, Ohio, Texas, Alaska.

The actual trick here is you need like 15 Joe Manchins to replace 15 GOP senators. You’re not gonna like the types of Dems that can win in Nebraska, but they’re a fuckload better than the alternative.

The Dems can never get a large majority because the stupid single-issue chucklefucks in the fly over states that always vote red because “demon-cRats kill babies”

~Source, live in a stupid chucklefuck fly over state

This is an accurate depiction of Schumer vs McConnel. Or even Biden vs Trump. Trump runs a campaign on locking up the opposition and then Biden’s DOJ want’s to focus on unity instead of enforcing the law. McConnel blocked supreme court picks for Obama and (establishment) dems just shrugged, and then he rammed through a pick for Trump and (establishment) dems just shrugged.

I appreciate that there is a distinction between progressive dems and establishment dems. AOC and Hillary are wildly different despite sharing a D.

    8. Don’t forget

Democrats: I am everyone’s president and we can solve problems together

Republicans: Democrats are traitors and terrorists

Sincerely, people living in constitutional monarchies.

    10. This is the same everywhere, not just the US (granted it’s worse in the US).

In NZ our right-wing government does the whole accusations/admissions thing, and they have ignored procedures and passed a huge number of bad bills to law under urgency (a mechanism that bypasses normal review processes). Media is kinder to them than it should be, and they really are clowns. They are even polling really badly but this doesn’t mean the usual dumb voters wont just vote them back in again, because that is how this all works. Dummies voting wankers.

Every time I look at international news, it’s a similar story everywhere in western democracies. But because of US cultural imperialism, one can look at the state of things in the US and worry, because it doesn’t matter how dumb it is, it will be exported here at some point.

    11. Liberals coming in droves to defend the Democratic Party. “We don’t have any power” the same crying defense of Dems is they’re just powerless. Dems had the power to keep the government shutdown last year, but caved. Dems had the power to not vote in the DHS replacement, but caved. Dems had the power to pass the war powers resolution, but caved. At what point do you open your eyes and see that the Democrats are controlled opposition.

The difference is Democrats see themselves as being restricted by the law whereas Republicans are willing to totally ignore or break the law in the hopes that enforcement will come too late to stop them.
