For those [out of the loop](https://www.npr.org/2026/03/24/nx-s1-5752380/f14-tomcats-iran-us-israel-airstrikes-top-gun) intelligence reports suggest (although still have yet to fully confirm) that joint US & Israeli strikes have finally destroyed all of Iran’s F14’s. If true, this means there are no longer any airworthy F14 Tomcat fighter jets left in the world.

Manufactured 1969-1991 and still flying 35 years later, that’s an incredible run!

When I was younger, my dad and I would always go to airshows, actually to this day I still do. So I was actually able to see this plane multiple times fly and let me tell you, what an amazing machine of power it was. I wish they still had some that they could fly just for airshows alone.

I love how the US is so war centric, when they goto war they goto war against their own weapons they exported to spread war.

Man. This vet feels old.
I worked (ABH) around these on the flight deck of the Kitty Hawk (CV-63), in the 90s.

In case anyome is wondering, there are still some F-14 airframes sitting around in the Boneyard in Tucson, Arizona. Some are more… intact… than others, and it’s basically a pipe-dream for someone to somehow make an airworthy jet out of them. One can hope though :’)
Here’s a list of all the coordinates for the remains I found:

I see them at the air show, each & every memorial day and leave slightly deaf from the incredible sonic boom when they break the sound barrier. A souvenir I suppose, lol.
There most definitely is airworthy F-14’s in the world.

I know they’re super expensive to maintain but it’s a crying shame – they were the closest thing we had to the jets in Macross.

It had a really good run. As others have said, the US restricted the sale of replacement parts for years because Iran had F-14s. I think the cost of maintenance for the F-14 became a detriment compared to the F-18.
