I had a Reshiram 113 full art which I took care of and loved. It wasn’t on purpose but they grabbed my Pokemon cards and put them outside and it rained.

Wait, which one was that Reshiram? How much pain I feel for you may be amplified depending on the printing.

Had a holo Charizard. Organically opened it. My mother threw them(along with a folder with all original 150 cards) in the trash and poured spoiled food on them and the MTG cards I had.

Selling doesn’t mean sold

Keep pretending you’d still have them in good enough condition to even be considered for grading. Have you seen how little it takes to tank the grade?

It’s only worth that if you can sell it. You don’t make or lose money until you sell it. If you spent 5 bucks on packs and pulled an 800 dollar card you haven’t made shit until you sell it. And if it’s unsellable you’re only down what you spent

my mother threw out my Groudon EX holo card when I was 12, this was at the same time she was having an affair with Brent

I convinced my mom to buy me 2 packs of 1st Ed pokemon cards from the 1st dark series when it came out. Took a ton of convincing as ebay was still kinda sketchy back then.
She did though. Think they were £8 each, got them in the mail and when they arrived the first pack had a holo dark charizard.
I immediately sold my whole collection for £200, huge money as a kid. Is it worth more now? No, because I was a kid and I wouldn’t have kept that thing anywhere near a PSA 10.
What did I do with £200? Can’t remember. 🙂
I also lost 1 full BTC, mined it at uni and lost the key to my wallet because it cost me more in electricity than the BTC was worth at the time.
Have I lost £40k? Nope, I know myself and I would have sold it when it hit £100. Can’t beat myself up when I know how I would have acted.

I found out my mum had donated my collection to a relative’s kid while I was away serving in the army. This was back in the day when people had just started to realize the market potential of Pokemon cards. It was a pretty sizeable, well-kept collection I had started when they first came out. I don’t know the real value, but I bet there was money to be had there. She had also given away my old high school books I was saving to study for college.
I know she just wanted to help me prepare to move out of the house after the service. She did suggest we could ask the cards back but I didn’t want to be the guy taking away Pokemon cards from a little kid.
