    1. All the big US auto companies owned (or in AMC’s case, were owned by) a refrigeration company. GM owned Frigidaire, Chrysler owned Airtemp, Ford had some kind of partnership with Philco, and AMC started out as a division of Kelvinator. I’ve also seen ads for commercial freezers built by International Harvester.

      Edit to add: the Isetta was originally built in Italy by a refrigerator company (ISO Rivolta) before BMW licensed the design.
