It’s hardly fair that the US spawned with all those oil resources.

Experienced this firsthand during a winter military exercise where US soldiers trained with us Finnish conscripts. They idled their tanks, IFVs and trucks all through the night, I think they slept inside them in the warm. Felt kind of wasteful as we slept inside tents with a stove.

I always here about lack of gas, supplies etc effecting the outcome of wars and battles but they always stop at how it manifestes in war time.
Was it that Germans where unable to pursue strategic objectives because fuel reserves where low or did you have tanks hanging out on the side of roads abandoned because they had no fuel.

The German blitzkrieg required horse-drawn-wagon to supply their front lines. They were beyond cooked.

How are people lost? You have so much recourses, money and a beefy supply chain that you can do wasteful shit like, wasting fuel by leaving the cars running.
The Germans by the end had not much left, they were scrapping by, even when some Germans got captured by US troops, and taken as POWS, they were ashamed and astounded by the food they were given. Some of them wrote letters back home, saying that the they were served top tier food DAILY (a well balance meal, cooked meats and all), for all 3 meals, while they knew the loved one back home were not doing very well. (imagine getting 3 home cooked meals A DAY)
It sounds like propaganda but you can look it up, its true. I mean RUSSIA sent spy’s into the US, and they were shocked and jaw dropped that our generic grocery store chains had multiple different meats that any one could walk up and buy… EVERY WHERE. People don’t realize how good we have it, and how much we take for granted. Then you learn how Germans and Russians treated each other as POWS… Russia never signed, so POWS didn’t exist, so they just straight up murdered each other instead of taking POWS.
Okay I’m done gushing. history is pretty cool.

I’m wondering if this was also true for World War I Allied/Entente vehicles?
I’m so lost..
explanation for the historically challenged?
Meanwhile, Iraqis and Afghans: We didn’t hear a bell! (Concerning just how much better US logistics were in those wars)
(Of course, those were guerilla/insurgent wars, not total conventional wars)
Here’s the original post u/FotressDotCom got the meme from, posted a whole 3 months ago:
