Even if you give him the benefit of the doubt (which you shouldn’t) and say it’s a joke… the fact is, Japan was the bad guys/aggressors with Pearl Harbor, and that was an actual war (which he sometimes claims Iran is not). So even if you play it off as a joke, it’s not the sick burn he thinks it is. We are the Baddies.

I definitely laughed, but Im not American, and I’m not hosting a Japanese dignitary who I’m trying to get to help me out of a pickle I’ve willingly put myself in… who is also trying to pretend to be a “hardman” (or woman in this case) to her voting bloc, so probably doesn’t want to be seen helping a man who tried to embarass her on the global stage.
