I can only assume that they never lived in a place with public transportation. If they did, they would understand how amazing public transportation can be. And for people who really need a car, you will actually have more space to drive cause the people who can travel through transport or walking or cycling will do that making more space for your driving.

I’m for free public roads for peoples private cars, I just don’t want any of my taxes to go to it.

I don’t want to have my taxes subsidising oil.Â
I’d rather have it being used for public transportation (even if I don’t use it)

An yes, let’s privatize the public buses so it can be as expensive as everything else with the same level (or less) of service

Unless your car can off-road everywhere (even through buildings) or you build all of your own roads… someone else is choosing where you can go!

My mother used to work at the County Treasurer’s office. Every year, she had at least 2 people come into the office and claim they shouldn’t have to pay School Tax portion of their property taxes because they “didn’t have kids”.

I do not live in a place where public transport is possible, and if it were it most likely wouldn’t help me very much. I am 100% OK with my tax dollars funding public transport, because I’m not the only person on the planet. Hell, I’m not even the only person on my street.

One day I’ll understand why drivers are so against paying for public transportation.
Public transportation being available means that people like me, that could drive, but hate it with a passion, are now on a train to go to and come back from work, reducing commutes of drivers.
And I don’t think I’m that special, so them paying a few dollars a year causes them to save time AND money on gas…

Wait until he finds out where the funding for the roads comes from.

Shouldn’t be funded by taxpayers? Is this person even vaguely familiar with the concept of public anything?

I’m guessing you want the deer crossing signs moved so the deer will crass at a different part of the road?

The people making this complaint have heard and are repeating the same message for decades. Replace ‘public transportation’ with any other funding issu, rinse and repeat. They don’t realize their portion of the budget (via taxes) is insignificant.
