Something tells me he might have had something on him and already dropped it somewhere while he was running

This may be my favorite dashcam video of all time. Funny, yet sorta wholesome too.

Always wondered what a cop world do if it were just following along behind a car full of people who all suddenly burst from the car and ran.

100% the cop was going to take him in from the start. The way he tells him to come see him outside the car, the fact he actually did have outstanding warrants, and the way he chased him down instead of just letting him go.
Lie #1 – He said he didn’t have any warrants. He said this to try and get him to come back to the car so he didn’t have to chase him. He had two. Cops not just gonna let that slide.
Lie #2 – he said he was going to have the man drive the car. No chance. He has outstanding warrants meaning his DL is not valid. The man knows his DL is not valid. Also, the way he tells him, in his “go to the principals office” tone, to come see him. If he really wanted him to drive he would have said it outright. No need for secret meetings about it.
Then he just starts fucking with the guy. “I wasn’t gonna arrest you” and all that bs. Cops just lying. No way he was going to let him walk.

This reminds me of a woman who was high/drunk and for one reason or another (attempted suicide?) drove through the gates at the school across the street from where I live. Bent the inch thick steel bar holding the gate closed, hopped the curb 20 yards afterwards, went straight through a wrought iron fencing and ended up 10 yards into the park next to the school. We get over there to check on her and she’s hysterical. Someone had called 911 by this point. FD was checking her our, and then we see the sheriff deputy roll up and she runs off. She was a rather large woman slowly running off into a field where there was only exit for her the get out from. Deputy pulls up, FD tells him she’s running, and he just slowly drives off and goes around to catch her, not lights or sirens or anything.

Dude messed up everyone’s plans… cop just wanted to go home instead of all the paperwork, girl is getting her car towed now, and he’s going to jail. And the cop is being the disappointed dad at his stupid looking keychain and his stupid rock and how slow he ran.

This is what blows my mind about this situation. Why the hell does the cop not just let them go and let him drive anyway? Like what does it actually matter?
