    1. the second they abandon the chair to physically sit on the edge of the desk, you already know nobody is going out for recess today.

This shit happened to me once. (Well, actually multiple times)

Our class were acting like little shits (I along with like 5 others were genuinely trying to learn since we liked the subject), and the sub gave up, and left.

Our small group continued doing self study since they weren’t teaching us.

Next day, entire class got a right drilling into, detentions all around, except the few of us that didn’t get involved. The sub was a regular, and knew most of our names, plus there was seating software, and must have checked who were naughty and nice, so we got out of it.

I despised when people would give them a hard time just because they think it’s a consequence free period.

    3. I used to work as a sub. One time I saw a student in the hallway and he was all mad at me and said “Last time you taught my class, you got me in trouble!”

I was like, Dude, whose side do you think I’m on?

    4. One time my very elderly sub took a nap all class period, and when the bell rang he woke up and thanked us for behaving.

“Alright whichever one of you is the so called ‘pooping bandit’ better come forwards or all of you are getting a decade’s worth of detention.”

I always hated when other kids would be awful to a sub. I’ve seen so many of them cry during class. I’m old enough to remember subs that kept teaching the lesson instead of just putting a movie on because the class is unruly.

“Never before in my (insert number) years of teaching have I seen a report THIS bad” I think I heard that exact sentence at least a dozen times.

Am currently a sub. Writing a kid’s name down in front of him to give his teacher is the only thing that works if they’re over 10. if I tell them to do something and they don’t, there goes the discipline of the entire class because it looks like I have no authority. If I call the principal, it looks like I can’t do my job. Writing 1 kid’s name down is usually enough to have a hassle-free period.
