I used to feel so smug when I watched Chernobyl on HBO. Like they had a disaster because the dumbest motherfkrs were running things and we weren’t like that.
At this point, the Chernobyl politicians look like geniuses compared to the nonstop parade of absolute imbeciles in the Trump administration.

When it was first rumored that he would take over for Kristi Noem, I saw a tweet that said “We should pronounce his name Mar-Kwayne until he is driven to tears about it.” And I heartily endorse this course of action.

In 2010 a Democratic congressman from Georgia was concerned the island of Guam may “tip over and capsize” due to increased military buildup.
He later claimed that he was joking and speaking figuratively, which might be true.

‘I must appear proper in my answers. I must not appear to be corrupt or improper.’
So when he hears that question, he immediately jumps to what he thinks is the “between the lines” narrative question.
He hears “… have you traveled to any foreign country [for any improper reason]?
But he’s said and done so many improper things in his professional work that he can’t separate non-leisure from improper.
He can’t answer a simple question honestly when the truthful answer allows for follow up questions, even when his follow up answers are perfectly acceptable. ‘If I say No, then we move on to the next topic. If I answer Yes, they will ask about my on the record travel. But they could ask about my off the record travel, and I can’t have that’ “No”.
