This was initially what I thought too. That and “he must think himself so clever”. Then I remembered this man has no ability to think or maintain any narrative with consistency.
People need to stop taking him so seriously. None of what he says has any deeper meaning. He evaluates the situations he’s in completely without forethought or context, and says whatever feels the most beneficial to his lizard brain right that second. It’s no different from a three year old saying mom gave permission to give him a cookie.
