And they got rid of it because “they didn’t want to upset the creators”

But doesn’t that lead to review bombing?

But then how would the shareholders get maximum value for the ads and sponsored content (also ads) they shove down the unwitting throats of product?

The ability to give wordless negative feedback that others can see without actually engaging is definitely important imo
Like, I gotta click on a video to see the comments, that’s pretty much the only other place you can put negative feedback on YT, and at that point you’ve already supported the creator by giving them a view and watching whatever ad comes on before the video.

Honestly, what’s the point of keeping the dislike button if you can’t tell how many people disliked it?

For real. Hate watching something that randomly pivots into some sus as a fuck bullshit half way through.

More things should have dislike buttons.

They know people will massively downvote all of the AI slop videos that they’re selling ads on these days
They like the fact that it takes about 15 seconds to realize a video is slop and by that time you done already watch 4 unskippable ads to even get the video on.

Wish reddit brought it back too. Now you can only see if you’re in the negatives. Tiktok could use that too, because it would stop so many stupid arguments of “look how many people liked my comment”

I think the issue is that it can be subject to manipulation, where videos are disliked because of an event or a general dislike of the creator.

The downvotes affected the right wing algorithm too much so they took it out.

highly recommend getting the browser extension that allows u to see it
Removing it was dumb anyway.
especially in the age of AI
Anything to keep us more susceptible to nonsense and propaganda
Similarly I miss when Reddit used to show the number of downvotes a comment had.
Dislike buttons and removing all the useless ai features! I also dislike short form content and ragebait, but I guess those are here to stay smh
But but bullying 🙄
but showing dislikes might cause potential viewers to nope out and then that video misses out on ad views.
the people running yt want _more_ views, not fewer
Dude is an Elon sell oit
