The question of confidence arises only when you are afraid. You do not need confidence when you are with the loved one, but in the interview room, everybody says, “I need confidence.”

Author argues that “confidence” is merely a sophisticated mask for fear, as both rely on the perceived importance of external worldly attainments.

True liberation is not found in building confidence (which is inherently aggressive and unstable), but in fearlessness—a state of spontaneity that arises when one realizes that nothing of essential internal value can be lost to the world.

I’ve always been a fat girl, mostly with no confidence when it comes to my looks and I can see that much bigger women are doing much better because they have confidence. Confidence gets you so many places so don’t be afraid of that
