Desert Storm was the one time since WW2 that foreign powers meddling in middle eastern affairs could be considered a good thing.

Iraq invaded Kuwait on August 2nd 1990 in order to get a hold of the large amounts of oil inside of Kuwait. This was an act of blatant imperialism on the side of Iraq and its leader Saddam Hussein.

After repeated ignored warnings from the UN towards Iraq, On the 29th of November 1990, the United Nations passed resolution 678, stating that Iraqi forces were to be removed by “all necessary means”, meaning Operation Desert Storm was given a green light to begin.

It was a rather quick war, with a large coalition of international nations promptly kicking the Iraqi invaders out of Kuwait.
