but are there any other planets that we’ve discovered that are as diverse as earth is? Feels like every other planet is either just rocks or just ice.

I find it quite unrealistic. I understand something my Hoth or Arrakis, but when you throw in Corresant which is a planet wide city. Seems a little overkill.

Yall have never seen a good alien planet apparently…

Keep in mind, fiction would be right most of the time. Earth is the only place we know of like this.
Mercury: entirely barren and rocky, no variation except for temperature.
Venus: entirely covered in cloud and super hot, no variation.
Mars: has polar caps, but is otherwise uniform.
Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune: all gas giants with a uniform atmosphere, no different biomes like Earth.
Earth is the exception, not the rule.

Same with cultures…. Babylon 5 is a dated, yet surprisingly relevant tv show from the 90s that highlighted this a few times… The whole reason they build B5 at all was to cross the gaps between warring cultures that were represented as whole planets/species of people.
They even get heavy handed about it in one of the earlier episodes that was meant to show the audience a bit about the primary “alien” races on the ship, but ended with Earth’s representative going unlike all of you guys Earth has a dozen different cultures.

The writers’ mind can’t comprehend it and even if so, movies aren’t long enough to capture it all

This is only possible on planets with massive tectonic activity and multiple seasons, nowhere near all of which possess. Look at the rest of the planets in our solar system.

Fiction Planets also tend to only have one village which is exactly where the heros landed.

Tbh if we tried to write a planet with as much biodiversity as earth it would take 3-5 movies. But I understand why that bothers some people.

I loved how this was subverted in Stargate SG-1. Jack and Sam get trapped on what they think is an ice planet, but it turned out they were just in Antarctica.
