Clem Burke is the most underrated drummer in rock history. Blondie fucking rules, one of the coolest bands ever

That you get both Debbie Harry and Clem Burke in the same band is just unfair to others.

Drummer Clem Burke, who sadly passed away last year, became the subject of a university study into drummer stamina in large part because of Dreaming’s constant motion drum part and Blondie’s gig/tour schedule. He eventually became a co-researcher and was later awarded a doctorate. When the study concluded, Burke continued the work in drummer stamina with the help of other drummers.
The funny thing about this is that the drum part for Dreaming was originally very typical, much less frenetic. But during warmups in the studio for the recording, Burke was screwing around with overplaying it, and the band loved the more energetic version. Once recorded, he had to forever play it afterward that way.
