I remember reading a very lengthy and scholarly book about the development of the atomic bomb. In the middle of it, there was the sentence, “It reaffirmed his view that the atomic bomb was shit.”

This looks like a pamphlet for the public or some sort of public educational book since it says “be sure your children are vaccinated.” In bold.
Probably used the word “shit” because its plain language that people of all reading levels can understand how infections can spread.
