It’s the principle of the thing. I already paid $60 for this thing (citizen bundle) and I don’t want to spend another $10 every time a war bond drops just because there’s one or two items that look fun

When your performance is actually rewarded with solid bonuses, the work becomes a LOT more fun. I give it my all every day. Work flies by and I actually don’t mind putting in as much extra time (and travel) as I need to. That’s where work > games.
