It’s cool for sure but you could just be parked by the time the dude is done playing on the touchscreen

    2. This tech might save the world from bad parkers. Perhaps they could prevent them from parking like dumbasses

The Chinese auto industry is light years ahead. Just go look at some videos. Look at the prices for what you get over there. There’s a reason they are banned in the USA. The American auto industry would get absolutely crushed.

eta: …like the BYD Seagull. Over a million sold in China. Sure it’s not for everyone. Sure it only has 75 horsepower, and only a 39 kWh battery, but entry level costs $8000. There’s is no fucking new cars made in the US or Europe that are $8000. [video here](https://youtu.be/ePB9r56-flA?si=B3XXnpKKWlA_xsZx)

    4. 50 years time and no one will know now to do anything themselves anymore.

Imagine phoning customer support because your car isn’t parking itself and you’re holding up traffic.

    5. I want to see this work in a major city where drivers often think bumping the car ahead and behind are part of parking

    6. So that’s why my neighbour backed her Xpeng in to my car which was only 2 months old. In December last year.

She selected my parking space as hers, probably.

    7. Meanwhile, my BMW hit the fucking curb, the first time I tried the automatic parking feature. Never used it since.

    8. haha we’re heading towards irobot vehicles. someone comes out with a 1998 toyota camry that was stored in a garage for a century and all hell breaks loose

    9. The Pentagon and American corporations are terrified of Chinese cars because it may signal the end of the American auto industry. Why do you think Chinese cars are banned in the US?

    10. As long as you don’t call Taiwan a country in your car, you should be good! If you accidentally did, well… the brakes might accidentally stop working whoopsie lol

    11. That’s pretty cool TBF, but the tyre wear of moving the wheels whilst the car isn’t in motion must cause some issues quicker for the tyre

Play that in real time and see how much better it is to park it yourself. Automated driving in cities and parking lots is ridiculously slow. If someone knows how to drive and park, they can do this in seconds.

Imagine being stuck behind an entitled asshole who wants you to wait for them to play with their screen before their car *eventually* parks the car.
