I’m more embarrassed every single day. How does prepare them to be functional adults? Oh yeah. It does prepare them to vote red tho.

Didn’t we already do that in the 1950s when “McCarthy-ism” was rampant? Are we really going to bring all that back now?

    3. So the plan is to make high schoolers actively want communism. Does these asshats seriously not know that when you tell teenagers not to do something their brain is wired to want to do it more?

    4. Given how “they” constantly conflate socialism with communism, I’m really curious as to what exactly they are going to be teaching the students to be “against”. Healthcare for all? Libraries? Social Security? Public schools? Fire departments?

I’m sure it will be ~~swill~~, swell.

    5. Guarantee that the Florida Education Commissioner who is pushing this has never reading read Marx and cannot name the tenants of communism to have even formed an opinion on it, other than it’s “evil”. No way they can distinguish between communism and socialism. tHeY aRe tHe sAmE!

    6. Force me into religious, i will hate your god even more. Force me into politic, i will hate your party even more. What else is in their lunatic mind?

    7. These fools are really afraid of communism. Maybe if capitalism was actually working for people they wouldn’t need to do this

    8. This is hilarious. Moral instruction at the high school level in secular institutions pretty much has a 100% backfire right. That shit requires deep seated shame from early childhood to work. They are going to create an army of socialists.

    9. I didn’t need anti-communist classes, I just learned about the communist revolution and the collapse of the U.S.S.R. that should be all.

Also my world histroy teach was awesome.

    10. That’s gonna backfire on them you know damn good well some 10th grader or 11th grader the teacher is gonna tell him to do something that kid‘s gonna stand up and say you’re a communist so I don’t have to listen to you.

    11. And here I was told that the LGBT community was indoctrinating kids. We’re so fucking screwed lmao and I’m working in education, elementary to be exact

    12. This may be the opposite thinking of General Mark Milley who said: “I’ve read Mao Zedong. I’ve read Karl Marx. I’ve read Lenin. That doesn’t make me a communist. So what is wrong with understanding, having some situational understanding about the country for which we are here to defend?”

      Rather than learn and understand…..

I wish I could go without one week of having to be embarrassed of my home state.

This was a graduation requirement when I was in a Florida high school (mid-1970s). It went away sometime after I graduated.

    15. Basically, two or three well read, informed students can blow up the entire curriculum each quarter or semester? All it takes are a few refuting every word uttered in that class for every kid to call bullshit.

    16. Nothing says “we have faith in capitalism” like forcing archaic anti-communism rhetoric in schools

I smell a financial collapse in the air

    17. I am so glad my kids are grown and we don’t have to deal with this shit. I feel very bad for all parents in this state. I cannot wait to vote out that piece of shit sitting in the capital.

But learning about emotional intelligence, the systemic disenfranchisement and enslavement of Africans, and that people are free and welcome to be who they want to be is brainwashing?

    19. Back in the early 80’s, Orange Park HS had a mandatory class, “Americanism vs Communism”.

I’m guessing they’ll be taught to pledge allegiance by raising their right hand at a 60 degree angle?

Let’s see how this one pans out. They’ll show the issues capitalism has created and frame it as “communism bad”. Hopefully it’ll work how DARE did.

    22. Went to a catholic school in Canada that made us study religion courses every year…needless to say a lot of us aren’t church goers anymore lol

I’m opting out for religious reasons. My faith rejects all notions of bullshit.

If only history had anything to teach us regarding similar situations that may have come up in the past.

America, you keep saying this communist word, I don’t think you know what it actually means.
