Hi I’m John joke explainer.
The man pictured on the right is Christopher Columbus, the sailer who “discovered” (even though it was discovered several times before he did) North America.
The OP is saying how if people had a time machine, everyone (because everyone obviously agrees with op) would tell Christopher Columbus to stick to the original route he would’ve taken to get to India
This is because Columbus was annoyed with how long it took to sail to India, realised the earth was round, and tried just going around the other way to see if it’s faster. He “discovered” the North American continent, and thought it was India (he wasn’t very bright) which is why native Americans were called Indians.
Tl;dr, OP is saying that if we had a Time Machine, everyone would go back in time and stop USA from happening.

Everyone in his time was telling him that the earth was bigger than he thought. What makes you think he’d listen to you?

I disagree
I really like not having to live in a rainforest to survive in an Indian tribe

Unfortunately, I think the great dying would have happened regardless of if Columbus visited or not. Sailing technology would mean that, at least, the most enterprising individuals with the best intentions would have introduced illness that would have torn through Native American populations like an overdue wildfire.
Columbus still shouldn’t have done what he did and colonization should not have happened.

You wouldn’t have ketchup though.
edit: To clarify.
Tomato’s came from South America. Without the Spanish reaching south America, you probably wouldn’t have Tomato’s reaching Europe or Asia. Spaghetti wouldn’t be spaghetti, Campbells tomato soup wouldn’t exist and Andy Warhol’s painting might be missing a can.
Not to mention there’s a lot of things in medicine we owe to first nations in the Americas, including Aspirin.
Columbus was probably a jerk, but it’s a single domino in a whole chain that would likely play out very differently if the Americas sat undisturbed.

You wouldn’t even be able to make a post on site like Reddit, all exist because of the America.

Columbus landed on the continent, but America Vespucci was the one who made claims that the land was an entirely new continent.
That’s why America is named after Vespucci and not Columbus. I know this ain’t what’s being asked, but history itself is important to understand as to not fall into the same pit fall traps of our predecessors.
