Chemistry as a hobby usually involves a lot more explosions and a lot less crying over stoichiometry.

Calculations for three hours just to find out why my soup is salty vs. making things change color for fun.

I used to have a cool chemist teacher at high school who really made it seem fun and you can tell he just loves chemistry, unfortunately one day he got cancer and it was bad, he started to change after that and some rumours started to go around about him after he got fired.

**The problem isn’t chemistry. It’s how schools turn curiosity into memorization.**

One is a nightmare about stoichiometry and the other is just me pretending I am Walter White
Don’t tell me you practice titration in your free time

Often I prefer hobbies over school. Like I know how to get the voltage in a component but you gave me voltages of others in a meshed series and parallel circuit? Yeah no

Many things are like this, a lot of my digital footprint consists of creative works yet I’m pursuing engineering academically, it’s way more difficult to make a career out of something compared to just some fun thing you do on the side

From when i was a teenager, i loved organic chemistry.
Till i got into master’s and did research in organic chemistry, it was in the beginning working with chemicals. Then, I started doing column chromatography for chemicals which have similar polarity, and oh boi, countess hours one messup taht means i have to start all over again and then i try to do it for 6 more months. I ended up switching to theory, specifically quantum chemistry. It’s a little hard, but i love it!!
Will start PhD. soon.

I love chemistry conceptually and all the ideas and I’m pretty damn good at comprehending them but I cannot do the simplest stoichiometry to save my life
