That is very strange. It gives me the impression that they were filling a root canal.

    2. Funny how this is a remarkably traceable crime, and yet it just isn’t at all worth the effort involved.

    3. Is that patient information on them? Seems like this would be pretty easy to figure out which dentist and they would rightfully get in trouble for many reasons…

This is genuinely unsettling. imagine hiking peacefully & finding hundreds of mouths staring up

    5. You should take them and make a mosaic. Would probably be considered a great piece of modern art just for being unique.

this is so neat. those are basically cement – imagine they get fossilized together and then re-discovered by far-future archaeologists. what would they think happened here??

What if someone pick up a few to make fake impressions on evidence/victim during a crime?

One could assume this could cause some chaos in the future.

    8. Can’t teeth be used to identify people? This seems like it could be a bit of a HIPAA violation 😳
      EDIT:Letter

I worked in the model room at a dental lab many moons ago. Only for a short time, about six months. I knew it went to the next person after it left the room, but never thought about where it goes after that. You definitely can’t just chuck them on a mountain.

If bodies can be identified when all that remains in their teeth… Can one probably waste time and tax money to pinpoint which dentist dumped these by identifying the teeth too?

Illegal dumping in rural Arizona is sadly pervasive…

    11. My dentist, when she was taking impressions for a mouth guard asked my if I wanted mine when she was done with it. She was going to throw it away otherwise. I took it and threw it away couple of months later. They’re really light and fragile made out of a chalky material. I imaging a good rain would begin to break these down. Still, can’t imagine who or why someone would dispose of them this way.

How on earth is doing this preferential to whatever the standard way of disposing them would be?

it’s crazy to think this is an antiquated thing now. I went to the dentist recently and instead of taking impressions of my teeth they literally used like a scanner. It made a 3-D model of my mouth. No more goop.

My guess is that since dental impressions are classified as regulated medical waste – somebody just dumped them to save a bunch of money which would be illegal. You technically stumbled across a crime scene.

If you are in the US, I would recommend reporting this to EPA or local police.

Reminds me of that case, also in Arizona I believe, of a man who ran a medical waste disposal company. He would collect human body parts left over from scientific and medical facilities doing experiments on donated bodies, and instead of disposing of them correctly, he just dumped them in the desert.

    17. If what’s written on some of them has any identifying info, I’d report this. Seems pretty clear that some dental office decided this was the best way to discard their trash and should get rightfully fucked for it.

    18. Make moulds of them and use them to give misleading evidence at your crime scenes.

“It appears the killer bit this apple and just left it there. Strangest thing”

Ironically if they look at enough of these dental records they may be able to figure out which dentist/orthodontic professional dumped these or who they were stolen from.

God forbid a guy keep his precious collectibles in a safe place to be undisturbed.

I’m pretty sure that’s illegal right there because they still have information on them because if you look closely, they still have names on them
