Yeah like my school didn’t give out LOR bcz I topped school and in state and was VP of council , just got a certificate , memento(which every member got).
And in anime it’s like they become most successful in world, and how the fuck do they do tons of extracurricular, school study , then home study and council work and be best at all(like I sucked in extracurriculars focusing on other 3)

Student council generally DOES have alot of power in Asia, not insane amount, but way more than the west, specifically when it comes to student social circles.
They are the body you go to for approving club formations and distribution of funds. which is a pretty big deal if you’re a student.
The funny thing is that the level of power is not consistent, some school might actually give the student council some level of power seen in anime, ultra rare, but does happen. and some school the council has essentially no power. this is more or less tied to the school philosophy and view of “leadership prepping”
