If during Obama 1, you had told me there would be a worse president than Bush I wouldn’t have believed you. Hell even when I was all disillusioned during Obama 2 I would have still been skeptical. Now I’m sitting here like that Wolverine meme holding a picture of Bush.

It’s wild that I have affection for this man these days. He was *supposed* to be the worst president of my life. No Child Left Behind and the PATRIOT Act were supposed to be the worst legislation of my life. They were vile and destructive.
And now I’m just like…. He wasn’t that bad. He seems like a nice man I could disagree with and not dislike.
And I can’t tell if it’s just that he’s better by comparison, or if he’s gotten better with age, or what.
I don’t… I don’t want to forgive him. Iraq was an abomination, and he bungled Afghanistan so badly. He wasn’t *good.* I just don’t hate him anymore at all.

Fuck that war criminal. His actions led to the deaths and injuries of millions while spawning groups like ISIS and spending trillions of dollars. Thats not to say that Trumps actions aren’t utterly abhorrent but let’s not downplay the severity of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars and the costs and outcomes of them.

I think about his incredible luck all the time. Easily once a month since 2017, I’ve been stunned into silence all over again at the fact that he won’t go down in history as the country’s worst president. That he’s had an even *more* favorable turn, becoming a sort of avuncular, silly billybear over time, is nothing short of proof that his prayers, and his alone, actually work.
