The Downed Iranian Warship Did NOT Carry Any Ammunition As Part Of The Protocol Of Participating In The Milan Naval Exercises

      That’s not exactly what happened.

The US participation consisted of a single plane. They did not pull our completely.

The US waited until the exercise ended, and the ship was headed home.

The ship was in international waters, and the two nations are in active armed conflict, so the ship was fair game. Since the literal stated goal was to destroy Iran’s navy, and that ship was part of the Navy, it makes sense.

The submarine did sink the ship, and did not render assistance. However, submarines usually don’t render assistance after a torpedo strike, as they lack the ability to take on the number of crew in the type of boats they hunt, and they are not equipped for rescue during normal operations.

If there were US ships in the region in range of the distress call that didn’t respond, yep, add a war crime to the stack for the DoW.

And yeah that was a despicable move on behalf of the US. But it’s also war. A war of aggression by the US, but still, a war.

    2. Jesus Christ are they all fighting to see how much of a villain they can be in this admin?

Hegeseth was practically jerking himself on stage over this. This wasn’t a military op it was murder.

    4. Even in WW fucking 2, all survivors were rescued. Both Allies and Nazis. America is now officially WORSE than Nazi Germany.

    5. This does sound worse than the sinking of the Lusitania. That seems to work out well for the country that attacked it…

    6. That’s not how naval exercises work. You dont offload all ammunition during naval exercises including Milan NEX. You store it and may not stock certain ASW munitions but you dont just go out empty

    7. Merica committing war crimes. 3 years ago this would be newsworthy now its just a Wednesday

GOP 2024: “we’re all domestic terrorists now”
GOP 2026: “we’re all war criminals now and anyone who doesn’t like that are the domestic terrorists.”

    9. If we had formally declared war this would not be a crime, but we didn’t so it is.

    10. And then you plastered the footage of this cowardly war crime all over every news channel in a disgusting display of

The entire system is shattered. We are a broken people, and we refuse to help ourselves.

    12. “Drug boats” “fishing boats” now this… “no rules of engagement”.

The question is how can we bring back Jesus without the rapture? Don’t you want Jesus back???

    13. This country will eventually face a reckoning and it is not going to be pretty.

    14. Can’t imagine another country that would do this????? Nazi germany, Japan in WW2?

      Pete’s gonna get Hague’d:

“An American submarine sank an Iranian warship that thought it was safe in international waters. Instead, it was sunk by a torpedo. Quiet death”

“Lethality is our calling card and victory our only acceptable end state”

      “No stupid rules of engagement”

“We are punching them while they’re down”

“This was never meant to be a fair fight”

    16. I was wondering why the crew was mustered on the rear deck when they were hit, probably preparing for a photo op not realizing what was about to happen…

    17. Oof. That’s a crime, Pete. If the submarine commander knew he should go down with Pete.

    18. Surely there were nations in ancient times who were just as ruthless. But that’s the thing, the US is a 21st century nation who is owing less and less to those infamously brutal nations from more barbaric times.

    19. Out of curiosity, how are submarines going to take on survivors? Afaik submarines have very limited space and do not have dedicated brigs.

Also it’s a bit hard to believe a ship will not carry even enough ammunition to defend itself even if it’s a peacetime trip for a naval exercise.

I get what Ryan Grim is trying to convey. Attacking a ship of a country you haven’t even declared war with is shameful and criminal but some of these claims seem a bit stretched.

    20. Is this true? If so this is one of the most cowardly things I’ve ever heard of in warfare.

Let me start by saying that I DO NOT endorse what was done here by the US navy. Having said that I am a former USN bubblehead (submarine sailor). US fast attack subs (or Boomers) have zero room on board for prisoners, rescued people, etc. On a Los Angeles class fast attack we were hot bunking. Meaning there was not enough bunks for all of the enlisted personnel on board so me and another guy share a bunk. While I’m sleeping he’s on shift, when he gets off shift he wakes me up, I get out of my rack and he gets in. Just for context here.

    22. “Death and destruction from above, all day long. We are playing to win”. Your secdef, acting like a high school bully who can’t think past his feelings.

    23. It’s frankly deeply hilarious how Americans were SURE that the military was gonna stand up to maga , trump and any overreach if things became untenable.

Things haven’t even really kicked off yet , y’all just didn’t want to understand.

    24. Hold up…the US sunk an “unarmed” Iranian ship off the coast of Sri Lanka?

Well, I guess that answers the question of “Will US servicemen follow illegal orders”.

I *legitimately* thought they wouldn’t…I guess Trump really did manage to get rid of anyone with a conscience and only has brown shirt yes men remaining. Gotta admit, as an American, this *really* concerns me (I’ve been concerned for a while, but as we approach elections, this one specifically scares me).

This is what you would call “Light” war crime…
