I was picking my kid up from school today and noticed the flag. It occurred to me that we lower the flag for politicians who never did a day’s work in their life and died peacefully in their sleep after sending other people’s kids off to war in order to enrich their donors. We lower it for major events like 9/11, when rich people die, and their property is damaged. We even lower it for the occasional podcaster who gets murdered while telling college kids that we shouldn’t stop criminals and people with known mental problems from owning guns. We sure as fuck didn’t lower them for the people who died over the weekend in this “not war”, however.
