I don’t know anything about him and I’m guessing he’s not a great person AND from the limited context I feel like he should have known what a green card entails if he is staunch on immigration policy.
That said, immediately admitting that you didn’t understand something and being gracious about being educated is something we should encourage in politicians.

This is one of the fundamental problems with MAGA. They think they are the only people that can save America but almost all of them don’t even know basic facts about their government. Really basic things. Like where do you go to get a marriage license or what is a green card? Yet they are convinced only they have the solutions but they don’t even understand the problem let alone the potential paths to a solution. Nearly the entire movement is made up of useful idiots to dense to realize they’ve been sold an ideology that only helps exacerbate the problems they claim to care about. Rounding up illegals is a stop gap measure if you want illegal immigrants gone. You might ask why the republican house, senate and presidency have not passed immigration reform to go along with their roundup? Super weird for a political party that controls the entire government and claims to care about immigration. Or maybe they don’t and there will be some really disappointed people when they finally wake up from their fever dream. If that’s even possible for them.
