The only bones found in the foot of Mount Taygetus were dated to be of people around the ages of 18-35. The Spartans did not throw their infants off mountain cliffs, that’s a common myth.

There’s only one historical source describing this phenomenon, and it was written centuries after it would have occurred.

Edit: It was Plutarch who made this claim, a man who was born over 400 years after the height of Sparta when they would have allegedly done such things.

I wonder if the helots ever took in discarded spartan babies. The Spartan society was rotten to its core, wish the Persians had won the war.

Good thing they epically got their asses handed to them by a bunch of gay lovers.

    4. There’s almost no chance this happened in reality with how high infant mortality would have been anyway. Maybe if a baby was born severely deformed but there was almost no chance a severely deformed infant would have survived in that time period anyway. This is Greek propaganda most likely.
