according to Bernadette Banner this is a historical misconception. If i recall correctly The idea that corsets were always painfully tight is mostly a myth. For most of history, corsets were everyday underwear more like a bra. Most were worn comfortably with little to no waist reduction. Extreme “tightlacing” did exist, especially in the 1800s, but it was uncommon and often criticized at the time as unhealthy or excessive.

I didn’t realize the ‘Pika-Choke’ was the hottest trend of the Georgian era.

nah. Corsets are fine. If you want a modern source, there’s Bernadette Banner, but as someone who himself has lived a lot of his life around people who use corsets, no. They’re fine. Extremely tight lacing was looked down upon for a reason, and regular lacing is not only perfectly fine, it was for the most part good for people, like a brace.

Corsets were the bras of their time and custom made to fit properly?

This misconception comes from the fact that most people who use one today used a general one that was mass produced. Corsets are supposed to be made for you it is a custom item. If you purchase a wrong size bra you’d be choked in there too 😀 This misconception is quite like the plate armor discussion Hollywood decided that the plate armor makes you slow and heavy without discussing it with a proper professional so most people think it’s hard to move around with plate armor because it was supposed to be made for you for your proportions.

When with this historical misconception die. A corset is not a fuckin’ torture device, the film with the zombie pirates lied to you. They were comfortable, if properly fitted, and acted alike our modern bra. Also, have you ever seen what properly fluffed tits look like in a corset? *Hnnng.*

A lot of women today wear corsets for fun. Far fewer people engage in recreational waterboarding or hooking car batteries to their nuts for fun, I imagine, so the comparison really doesn’t hold water.
