Is there such a thing as “American 🇺🇸 food”?

    1. Millions of native people were eating American food for millennia before Europeans showed up

    2. There is American only food. Acorn bread, pemmican, succotash, nut soup… Native Americans had their own food before the arrival of the Europeans.

The best thing about the USA is the fact that we don’t have anything original to hold on to. We are anything someone or something new brings to the table…

      Or so I thought.

      Collard Greens.

And before you go asking chat gpt or Gemini I am not talking about the plants origins in the Mediterranean.

I am talking about the dish perfected by enslaved Africans in America that is now a staple in what is considered “soul food”, which is one of the few groups of truly American foods.

Donut holes… literally that’s the first thing that comes to my mind as an American food original. Native Americans made “fried bread”, which actually looks (and tastes) remarkably similar to what is commonly known as donut holes. It’s still a staple in every Native American feast I attend. They don’t call them “donut holes”, but it’s the closest parallel I have for you. (They are still delicious… and also I’m fat… read between the lines there🧐)

    6. I didn’t know fried chicken was from Scotland, but that doesn’t surprise me we deep fry Pizza, sausages & mars bars amongst other things 😊

What about Cornbread? I’m not American, but I think it’s one of the nicest breads I’ve eaten.

      I’m sure that’s 100% American.

These people don’t understand how anything has happened through history to make it what it is today. 🙄

    9. This is why America is called the melting pot of the world where a bunch of cultures come together and mix
