I know a number of H1Bs who are against having more H1Bs. It’s not culture, it’s math. Even those current H1Bs who have been here a while (or have achieved PR/cit) are now finding themselves being replaced by new H1Bs.

AI is not taking *any* jobs right now. It is just that all investment money is going towards AI.
Of course it is also a neat excuse to lay-off engineers working on things not AI related, so you can overpay engineers working on the next hot thing for that sweet investor money…
Also – plenty of immigrants came in to do highly specialized jobs that “Billy Bob Colemine” is *never* going to be able to do.
