There’s a reason Pac is the GOAT. The storytelling and raw emotion in ‘Dear Mama’ can’t be matched by a repetitive hook about lean. We went from poetry to ad-libs

Music producers do not like smart and talented musicians because they tend to be “difficult” to work with. This is because talented musicians know what they want to make, how they want to sound, what they want to say, and they know what they’re worth.
Stupid, pretty, and dumb performers do what they’re told, sing what they’re told, and are easily replaceable if they become difficult.

It’s not like there wasn’t shit rap back then aswell…
And it’s also not like there is no good rap today.
But, you don’t seem to know the dog shit from back then, because it luckily stayed in the past… And I don’t know the shit from today, because I’m a boomer

It’s trash! Mumble rap killed it. Same beat, same stop and go flow. All about percs and women of Ill repute.

Yes. One example of bad lyrics is the culmination of the entire genre.

Back in my day we had *actual songs*, not 15-second vibes you can’t even hum after.

I only wish that songs like only God can judge me now, didn’t have features on them. I think a lot of the rappers from back in the day would jump on a track with someone like 2Pac, and it would essentially take away from the greatness of the song.

Bunch of boomer bots in these comments. Using a great example vs a bad example. I don’t listen to rap music exclusively but they’re not all like this

You know that type of rap music has always existed it’s just now that’s the only thing that’s being pushed to the top

This is pretty selective. There is a ton of very deep and lyrical rap out there still. Artists like Kendrick, J Cole, JID are putting out amazing stuff. I do agree though that popular rap has devolved a good bit. That doesn’t mean music has gotten worse, just that the general publics taste has.

It wasn’t these faces, but it was this same exact meme. I make sure to listen to new music, find bands I like outside my comfort zone (take a guess lol) and then torture my friends with them.

I dont even think this is a controversial take, his lyrics are as good as tupacs.

I hate this comparison because it compares someone notable for his writing with someone who is not, why isn’t it Tupac and Kenrick? This is such a bad faith argument. If you’re going to pick trash do vanilla ice and migos, pick comparable artists
