In 1692 Salem, several young women testified that accused witches sent spectral animals to attack them. The court accepted this kind of testimony as evidence, which resulted in 19 executions.

That time when colonial America was more backwards than Xc. Europe… (tbf it’s also because Europe went really backward on the issue).

Lol, my brother and I got really into genealogy years back and started researching. We found that our family came over to America in 1659, and one of the few things we were able to find about him was him being sued for his son stealing his neighbors beaver. By which I assume, he was trapping on their neighbor’s land, but the wording of the court document was great…

Already during the 17th century, there was a stark divide between wealthy secular, coastal Americans, and inland struggling pious farmers

It was one of the very very few ways a woman could exert and power. But blame the lunatic witch trial judges who burned thousands of innocent people to justify a job theyd made up out of nowhere

I feel like a spectral cat would be a vast improvement over a normal, non-spectral cat.
Don’t get me wrong, non-spectral cats are great, definitely love them. I just feel the spectral cat box and potential spectral allergies would be a lot more manageable.

Sorry that was me, I’m constantly letting my spectral cats roam, I feel like it keeps the spectral bird population in check.

Salem witch trials were about political disputes between the country people and town/city people. It turned into a land grab of the person you didn’t like. It happened in a few other areas too. Also, the witchcraft thing wasn’t just puritan American colonies, it was Europe at the time as well and worldwide going back at least 300+ years.
