    1. The little girl on the top left looks exactly like my sister when she was that age. It’s creepy.

Had a friend who’s father grew up during the depression. When the man’s parents became so destitute that they could no longer take care of him, they took my friend’s father (who was eight years old at the time) to a train yard, put him on a box car, and told him to go make a life for himself.

Damn. I was really hoping this is one of those stories that was super misconstrued, and it was actually a joke to get the kids to behave or something.. but it seems like it was not.

    4. This photo is staged. I mean look at that sign, come on. And I know that the internet says she did sell her children, read the story about them selling her and you can tell that it has obviously been fictionalized. Chained in a barn to do farm work? Sold for bingo money? Who is believing this? I do believe the children were raised by other families and its a sad situation but this is story is obviously sensationalized.

Want to post a pic of my great aunt that was given away during the depression. Wonder if she survived and had a family.

In modern times, parents basically tried to get their kids famous. Like Britney Spears. Or all of the victims trafficked by Epstein.

This isn’t necessarily history as in “used to happen”

This still happens. And is likely to get worse if contraception and reproductive rights are further stripped.

Evil woman. Sold them off. Some to abusers and some to good families. Her kids found her years later only to discover she completely moved on. Got married again and had more kids that she kept and cared for. Her children said she had zero remorse. Hope she’s miserable in hell.
