Tbh, not well versed in Korean history in particular, but familiar enough with 20c history in NE Asia to see that this photo reflected the pressures of Western cultural influences, industrialization, and Japanese imperialism on traditional Korean culture, to the level of family portraits. A beautiful photo in a deeply sad context.
