Here’s a tip, Mike: the SOTU doesn’t even need to be an in-person speech. It could legally be in any form, such as a letter. The Democrats **don’t** need to be there; they can read the transcript of the remarks later on and it would still satisfy the Constitutional requirement that the President update Congress on the state of the union.

They can watch if they want, or not….being in the room does fuck all for their constituents. When was the last time a State of the Union address was anything but a self-congradulatory speech about how great everything the president is doing and how wonderful the union is because of that? It certainly wasn’t any of the ones Trump gave. There is no point in attending if your goal is to get anything done.
