    1. How dare you find a way to exist and be happy that isn’t what I had given to me when I was your age.

    2. Translation: I wanted my son to follow my personal beliefs rather than be an independent human being, but he did his own thing regardless.

    3. So…. tractors make you immune to being gay?

      Or….?

No i dont understand this person’s reasoning.

I thought tractors made you a fan of farming.

    4. Men like heavy machinery… It could be Tractor, or could be Trains, it could be Tanks.

      It will happen.

    5. I wanted my kids to be an extension of my performative lifestyle where I get dopamine from others acknowledging my virtue but my kid wouldn’t play along and I’m upset about that.

    6. I have twins, a boy and a girl, they play with the same toys. If my daughter wants to dress up as a princess my son will do it too. My son will also fold a Barbie and start using it as a gun. I didn’t teach him that. You can’t isolate a child from social norms, just don’t punish them for harmless decisions.

    7. _”Tractor! You’re like a hot nuclear reactor! And here’s another factor! I’m a tractored to you.”_

Other people have rightly pointed out that parents should just take pleasure in their kids joys. I agree, but will add a second: The silliness of assuming that a thing or activity is inherently gendered and that a person is attracted/repulsed by it because of its gender.

    9. Imagine being so woke that you’d intentionally deprive your kids of happiness.

I am fucking sick and tired of people trying to make children fit their perverted worldviews. This is why my kids will never ever set foot in a public school.

    10. There some hope for him still. Hopefully the boy will defy the odds and become a decent, well adjusted person.

    11. I mean, I taught my daughter to play in the dirt and catch bugs. Her love of rainbows, unicorns and princess dresses came naturally.

    12. My Goddaughter is OBSESSED with trash trucks.

She has toy trash trucks, trash truck stuffies. Shes friends with the trash truck guys, she gives them waters and cookies every week.

      I think it’s fucking awesome

    13. Crazy idea maybe just let kids follow their interests and leave our silly politics out of it conservative or liberal

    14. Damn, what’s the bad thing he’s gonna do next? Dreaming of marrying a woman and having kids? Working hard to achieve his goals?

My cousin had this perspective. Kids are just people and there are no gender norms in her home.

(I personally don’t care either way. My son had dolls. My daughter had trucks. They’re toys not lifestyle assignments. They turned out normal.)

My cousin was a SAHM. Home schooled. No preschool or daycare or other influences. She was devastated when her son started making stick guns and wanted to wrestle/fight all the time and her daughter just wanted to cook and draw and help animals. Because those are “gendered” activities that conform to their sex at birth.Fuck off Tammy.

So this sexist parent thinks girls aren’t capable of falling in love with tractors because it’s such a “masculine” thing…

    17. My parents told me that I liked cars (vehicles) pretty much immediately. I still do, and hobby grade RC cars has been a hobby of mine for 37 years now. (49 year old male)

You’re supposed to allow them the freedom to explore outside of the box, not exile them from the box and lock the lid behind them

OP is rage baiting. The article ends with a statement about how the author learned to let his son find his own interests and a picture of them in a skid steer together.
