We have a man with tourettes come into my library every so often. He doesn’t come that often because he can’t help but yell as loudly as possible. We’ll get complaints whenever he’s in because it stresses people out. Meanwhile, he’s trying his best to just not yell as often. He’s very quiet when he’s speaking otherwise.

I feel so bad for him that he just has to go through life relying on the kindness and understanding of strangers when his body is basically trying to make him look like an enemy.

    2. I thought tourettes was a specific gesture, tic, phrase or word? Is it situational as well? Like because he’s carrying something that looks like cocaine he’ll say he’s selling cocaine?

    3. As wholesome as this is as a clip, it’s not “funny” given the person portrayed in this video is currently being accused of being a vile racist for exactly what this movie is attempting to educate people about.

Like this really happened to him. He was arrested for this in real life. That’s REALLY shitty. You’re buying sugar and then suddenly you’re being arrested because of something you can’t control.

Now that same guy in real life is being absolutely humiliated by social media by the most ignorant twats on earth who can’t take 2 minutes to learn about a disorder.

Sorry. It’s a cute clip. But given the current “controversy” around the real life guy I can’t laugh too much.

Not sure why this is in r/funny? This is a depiction of what can actually happen to people with Tourette’s syndrome. It’s a rather sad reality that they can be and are treated this way. This isn’t really appropriate here.
