I exported my Google Maps Timeline data and turned it into a network map of my movements. Pretty fun to see the big hubs and the random travels that appear.

    1. Funny how lives differ, mine would probably be like 4 dots, maybe. You travel for work or what?

    2. My location history for the last 2 month is me going to a few supermarkets in my surrounding once a week. Home office and depression does that.

    3. Amazing that you were able to travel across Europe in such straight lines! The wonders of rail transport

Hard to guess what you do.

You fly to a lot of places, but basically don’t do any international travel outside of this. Sales? Maintenance of widespread but niche equipment? Maybe a vintner?

Or just a tech/data person who likes wine.

    5. Data source : Google Maps iOS app export

Tool : I vibe coded a tool made for visualizing Google Maps data as well as WhatsApp or Spotify data (Available on my Reddit profile since it appears I can’t publish the link here)

    6. Ohhhhh.
I’m ending a 6 month trip around Europe this weekend. I’m going to have to give this a go!

    7. Surprised at people calling you rich or trying to figure out what you do in life.

Maybe french people move around more than the average but I’d consider this a very normal map for a french person over 8 years.

I was gladly tracking my location history using google maps timeline until it randomly stopped doing it cuz I haven’t “verified my age using an ID/credit card” to use their services. Pathetic.

    9. Advantages of living in the main land, makes so easy to move around. In my case I’m trapped in that small island .
