“Running of the Six DRGGX” . Syd Mead . 1983 . Absolutely tremendous work !

 Commissioned by the World Sports Fair , Japan , Yoyogi Stadium Oct. 1983 . His brief was simple – produce 3 paintings . Each must be predominantly one colour as per traditional prizes i.e. gold , silver & bronze . This is gold obviously – featuring huge mechanical beasts – crewed by 8 people . As usual , safety has , perhaps , not been entirely thought through !
