In 2000 I was in high school and voted for Bush. Got an AA in history, and then a BA in Political Science: Constitutional Law.
Also lived through massive abuse of power and the Great Recession.
No idea why I am left wing now.

History teachers have to learn (from) history as an occupation so what do you expect?
Definitely not all of them are.
The founding fathers were left wing. The ones that would have been considered right wing stayed with the British
